Official Photographer for the New Mexico Junior Rodeo Association Photographs from the rodeo events can be viewed and ordered here. The photographs will be presented on a thumbnail menu. You may select to view a larger image simply by clicking the thumbnail. Remember, these are low-resolution exemplars. Sharpness and contrast are limited by our computer screens. All photographs are taken in color. From that format I can prepare a finished photograph in many tones such as Black & White, sepia, Van dyke brown, platinum and palladium to name a few. If you are interested in these tones, click here for an explanation. Some of these toning techniques work very well with cowboy/cowgirl photographs and can give that "1880's" western look to them.
On the various pages, I have selected photographs to showcase some of the various toning techniques available to you. Of course, color is always available. To view a larger image, left click any photograph. You will find traditional Black & White photographs, unsurpassed in presenting a dramatic, gritty, emotional visual impact. You will also view some sepia, platinum, palladium and Van dyke brown toned photographs. These are all traditional toning methods going back to the 1800's and are used to present classic, fine art presentations. These are not pictures...they are photographs.
We will print your photographs in traditional sizes, such as 4x6, 5x7 and 8x10, as well as larger sizes such as 11x14, 16x20 or 20x24. However, some of the photographs will not "fit" into a traditional size. The action may be spread across too large of an area and cropping will cut out some of the important features. Team events are a good example of this, where we have two competitors and the live stock all spread across the photo frame. If you find a photograph that you like, call me. Talk to me about what you want so that I can get you the best photograph to fit the frame you have in mind or so that I can recommend something that will work. I don't use a computerized menu selection program because of this. A computer doesn't know the difference between a healer, a header or a calf. Call me at (505) 508-0337. Tell me what you want, how you expect to show it and what is important in the photograph. Sometimes, it's just that boot sicking out from under the bull that is important, sometimes it's the smile on the face (on the bull's face). I will keep the photographs up for each event for a long time. If you decide next year that want a photograph from this year, it will still be up and you will be able to find what you want.
